(AFL) Preview – The ST Kilda Saints vs The North Melbourne Kangaroos – Round 14 2012
The final match of the round at Etihad Stadium between the Saints and the Roos is a very crucial one for both teams as they are focused on securing a spot in the bottom half of the eight. There are currently five teams fighting it out for the last couple of spots. It’s tight how tight about as tight as a “fishes brown star and that’s water tight!”. Last time they bumped their heads together the Saints tore the Roo boys a new one by a massive (65) points at the same venue.

(AFL) Preview – The Geelong Cats vs The Port Adelaide Power – Round 14 2012
The Geelong Cats host the visiting Port Adelaide Power at “The Cattery” on Sunday afternoon in what looks to be a very one-sided contest. The “Once we were warriors” Cats are struggling to stay in touch with the main bunch and are a real possibility in missing the finals in 2012. Port on the other hand are in more trouble than a “vegetarian at a beef growers BBQ” with an injury list that leaves the Powers brains trust with faces on them like a “festered pickle”.

The West Coast Eagles host the winless setting Suns at “the house of pain” on Saturday afternoon in what looks like another “fat boy and his anorexic girlfriend on the see-saw scenario”. Last time they had a crack at each other in the Eagles sand pit back in round 11 last year the Westies got the coin by (19) points on the bell. (AFL) Recap – The Collingwood Magpies vs The West Coast Eagles – Round 13
The Collingwood Magpies hosted the West Coast Eagles at “The G” home of the greatest game on earth. It was a game that many of the “talking heads” have heralded as this years Grand Final (I beg to differ). It was a gigantic struggle from the outset and one of the very best games so far this season. Like the round opener on Friday night both sides strutted out on to the park with a “never say die attitude” and performed accordingly for four action packed quarters of blue ribbon class football.

The slick Swans getting up over the reigning premiers in the last (90) seconds of the game. Andrejs Everitt was brought on for the returning super star Adam Goodes in the last quarter, Everitt took a contested mark from a incoming Alex Johnson entry into the forward 50 and smashed through the goal of his life to hand the Swans a (6) point win on the “death knock” depriving the “out of towners” of a much needed win.

But the Demons have always been “the thorn” in the Bombers side and this is the third time they have beaten them in a row. Congratulations! to the Melbourne football club,

Recap – The Port Adelaide Power vs The Carlton Blues – Round 10 2012
Port Adelaide hosted the Carlton Blues at AAMI Stadium on Saturday night in what was a must win game for the shaky Blues and once again Rattens rodents failed to deliver the goods. Going in to this match the Blues were sporting a (6-3) record and were showing signs of ”the wheels coming off” the bluesmobile. On the flip side the Power were sporting a (3-6) report card and were in desperate need of another win.

The Sydney Swans host the Western Bulldogs at “The SCG” on Sunday in a game which has all the makings of a very interesting contest. It is a crucial game for both teams, more so for the Swans who are starting to look about as shaky as “an alcoholic with the ddts”. The Swans are now sporting a (6-3) record after starting off the season with 5 straight wins on the trot, they have hit a couple of speed bumps in: the Crows losing by (5) points, The emerging Tigers by (29) and the Saints last week by (28).

The “on the pump” Collingwood Magpies host the setting Suns at “The G” in somewhat of a “fizzer” to finish off round 10. The Pies are fresh from hammering the Crows on their home turf in “churchville” and the Suns are still reeling from yet another belting having been pumped by Port Adelaide by (48) points. Last time these two sides had a crack at each other the Pie machine massacred the hapless Suns by (54) points up in banana land. There is no reason why the result will be any different this time.

The Cats host the “new kids on the block” at “The Cattery” on Saturday in a contest that will be about as interesting as watching “grass grow” to be sure as the Giants face an almighty task of trying to down the reigning premiers at the “house of pain”. This is the first time these two sides have faced off against each other and one would imagine that it will get very ugly about as ugly as the old girl across the road who works at the biscuit factory making gorilla biscuits with her face. A very bad “train wreck” is imminent.

The Sydney Swans hosted The Melbourne Demons at the SCG and launched the poor old Demons in to orbit totally anilhating them by 101 points on Saturday. On Sunday afternoon the Roos and the Doggies bumped heads at Etihad Stadium in a tough physical contest. The Roo boys were sporting a 3-3 record before the bounce and the Doggies were 2-4 and hoping to turn their form around. The Bombers hosted the Eagles at Etihad Stadium on Saturday night. On paper it looked to be a “cracker” of a game with the undefeated Eagles coming to the big city and the home side boasting a 5-1 record which many would say really should be 6-0 after the controversial clash on ANZAC Day with the Pies.

The young Lions hosted the Collingwood Magpies at “The Gabba” on Saturday night in what was a pretty average affair. The Pies put paid to the home boys by 58 points at stumps, but they were far from impressive in doing so. The Giants cometh yielding their razor-sharp axe like The Greek God “Thor” sending down lightning bolts! The Giants stomped on the Setting Suns. The two newest additions to the elite AFL league. Well as expected the Hawks put paid to the lowly Demons by 66 points. The Dees have firmed in to long odds on favourites for the spoon (at least in my book). Th hard nut Hawks flexed their muscles like “Hulk Hogan” before entering the ring in a WWF championship. Although the Hawkers kicking was atrocious and one could clearly see that some fur was needed to be put around the big sticks. They clearly showed that when the Hawk machine is fired up that they can turn their opposition team in to a bad train wreck.

Recap – The West Coast Eagles vs The North Melbourne Kangaroos – Round 6 2012
The West Coast Eagles remain unbeaten on top of the ladder after holding off a determined Kangaroos push. The Eagles are off to their best start in the home and away season since 2007 and with mounting injuries it doesn’t seem to have deterred them from winning (at this point in time anyway). North Melbourne put in a real gutsy effort and as you know the scoreboard doesn’t always tell the true story…it was really only in the final quarter that the “sand gropers” opened the flood gates.

AFLReview – The Collingwood Magpies vs The Essendon Bombers – Round 5
Round 5 in The AFL certainly didn’t let us down there was a little bit of everything for everyone! We started off with “The Blockbuster” the traditional big one at “The G” on ANZAC Day and what a game it was! The clash of ”The Titans” got off to a slow start ant The Pies led at every change, BUT they had to survive a late super-charged counter-attack from the mighty Bombers to get the coin.

Last year was a different “kettle of fish” so to speak as the Western Bulldogs were a different unit and had the wood on the Crows. Both The Pies and The Tigers got cleaned up like a Sunday roast last week and will be looking to grab the four points here. AFL The Melbourne Demons vs The Brisbane Lions – Preview Round 1
Let’s take a look at the pre-season form. The Demons had a sensational win against The Pies, but apart from that they were pretty ordinary. They were massacred by The Hawks and The Power (of all teams). Against Port Adelaide they certainly looked extremely lethargic, being decimated in the backline allowing lots of easy goals to be scored against them.

Daily Opportunity:
Big Story:
Two teams sitting outside of the playoff picture look to earn a valuable two points when they face off Tuesday night. Los Angeles, in 10th with 68 points, couldn’t build on momentum of a 4-0 shutout win against Chicago on Saturday, falling 2-1 in Nashville two nights later. Minnesota, three points back in 12th, have won three of four – including a 4-3 win Sunday against San Jose.

Sports Life – The Best Drug On The Planet – Sport
Without any possible doubt the best drug on the planet is “Sport“. It’s healthy, free (of course we have to pay to watch it) and we all take it. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a player, a coach, the team doctor or a supporter we are all effected in one way or another by it.

Sports Investing Information – AFL (Australian Rules Football)
AFL football is without a doubt the most exciting of all the football codes to be sure! (ok I’m biased). But really none of that round ball stuff compares and the Americans all dressed up in their gridiron gear anyone would think it’s halloween and as for the the rugby boys.

Sports Investing Information – The Gaming Industry
Sports Investing has come a very long way from the old days of smokey bookmaker betting shops with poor crackly quality radio broadcasts, blackboards, prices constantly being chalked up on them and erased as the new prices are wired through (not to mention) chalk dust everywhere and limited information available and the like with limited investment opportunities and so on. In those days the bookmakers held all the cards so to speak.

Sports Investing Information – Gambling – Part 3
Welcome to the third and final part of our series on gambling, firstly let’s talk about:
6) Excitement - Jaded spirits can be given an uplift by a bout of gambling. To join or be part of the crowd at the races or around the roulette table, and to bet with them, is to join a group where ordinary existence is speeding up, however temporarily, by expectancy and tension. Triumphs and distaters are in the air. The gambler is where the action is, participating and making decisions.

Sports Investing Information – Gambling – Part 2
Let’s take a look at the reasons why a large majority of less committed people gamble.
Some of the reasons may appear to sound quite fanciful, and not all apply to all gamblers. These are some of the main ones:
1) Greed - Easy unearned money has obvious attractions. It is a prime motive of gamblers from low income groups, with little skills and little education, who see gambling as the one route to wealth.

Sports Investing Information – ” Gambling – Part 1
What is gambling ?
Simply put it is to speculate on an uncertain event, involving risking money or other possessions in the hope of achieving more money or more valuable possessions. Nobody can avoid gambling since nobody can see the future. For example, marrying, one gambles ones happiness against the chance of even greater happiness. Even to choose not to marry is to gamble that this will prove to be a better course to take. People gamble when buying shares or stocks or even a car. When making a car journey, or just simply crossing the street, you stake your life or health on your road sense or agility to be sure.
